Considerations over the operation of the Algiers Ferry might quickly result in extra oversight from the New Orleans Metropolis Council. District C Councilmember and Chair of the Transportation and Airport Committee Kristen Gisleson Palmer proposed extra council oversight with the Regional Transit Authority and its ferry service on the committee’s assembly Wednesday. Palmer mentioned riders are annoyed by repeated upkeep points, breakdowns and restricted service hours. Palmer mentioned the proposed advisory committee also needs to embrace residents and tackle considerations concerning the hours the ferry runs in addition to new concepts to draw extra vacationers to make use of the service. The assembly comes because the RTA is internet hosting a public assembly on the redesign of the Canal Avenue Ferry Terminal. That assembly is occurring from 6 p.m. to eight p.m. on the Algiers Regional Library at 3014 Vacation Drive.
