Operators of excursions to Scotland’s islands worry they may go to the wall after the Calmac ferry firm, owned by the Scottish authorities, withdrew its discounted charges.
Calmac normally reduces ticket costs by about 10 per cent for corporations that frequently take events of vacationers on board its ships.
For bigger coach vacation operators the financial savings from the reductions are more likely to be value tens of 1000’s of kilos.
Calmac has now written to operators within the tour trade to say it’s withdrawing the subsidies, which corporations declare are very important for the monetary viability of their companies.
The reductions are understood to range relying on the quantity of passengers and whether or not the strategy of journey is by automobile, coach or on foot.
