Kyne welcomes €500,000 for improve of Connemara cycle routes and Western Manner


Half one million euro has been allotted to improve the Western Manner in Connemara, together with enhancements to the strolling path and Derroura bike path, and develop a ‘Eurovelo’ cycle route from Lennane to Kinvara.

The funding is from the Outside Recreation Infrastructure Scheme and can allow the improve of 10km of strolling path and the alternative of two bridges alongside the Western Manner; the improve of the 16km bike path on the Derroura Mountain Bike Path Community, close to Oughterard; and the ‘Eurovelo’ cycle route growth.

The funding has been welcomed by Nice Gael Senator, Seán Kyne. He famous that this funding will likely be complemented by the continued efforts to develop the Connemara Greenway, which lately obtained €11 million in funding for the set up of a brand new bridge over the Corrib utilizing the foundations of the outdated Clifden Railway line.
