V2V Holidays, the passenger ferry service operating between downtown Victoria and downtown Vancouver, introduced Monday that it’s shutting down.

In an announcement on its web site, V2V Holidays stated it won’t resume operations in 2020. Individuals who have bought tickets have been promised refunds.

The corporate stated monetary prospects usually are not adequate for it to proceed. Its 242-seat catamaran, the V2V Empress, will stay docked in its house port of Victoria; what’s going to occur to the vessel is unclear.

Firm officers couldn’t be instantly reached on Monday evening.

For the previous three years, V2V, owned by Riverside Marine Group of Australia, provided passenger service from March to October.

The three-1/2 hour journey was first billed as a service for vacationers with comfy seats, incredible views and nice meals. One-way tickets ranged from $120 to $240 when it began in Might 2017.

However after three months, the catamaran was sidelined by mechanical issues and a brand new engine was put in.

The vessel had been in-built 1995 and was refurbished for the brand new position.

In 2019, the corporate introduced it could look past the vacationer market and pitched its service to native travellers with financial savings provided to B.C. residents
